SCHOOL COUNCIL
At Maramba Primary School, our School Council plays a vital role in shaping the direction of our school. As outlined in the Education and Training Reform Act 2006, the School Council operates under the guidance of the Department of Education and meets at least eight times a year.
Our School Council is made up of elected parents, community members, school staff, and the Principal. Together, they work to ensure Maramba continues to be a thriving, supportive, and high-quality learning environment for all students.
The main areas of responsibility for the School Council include:
Finance: Overseeing the school’s budget and financial management
Strategic Planning: Helping to develop and review the school’s strategic plan
Policy Development: Creating and updating school policies that reflect our values and guide our direction
In addition to these areas, Council members contribute to decisions about our school grounds and facilities, and work in partnership with the Principal to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
School Council elections are held annually in Term 1. Members are elected for a two-year term, with half of the Council positions up for election each year.
