STEAM

We live in an ever-evolving 21st-century world where students are constantly challenged to problem solve and think outside of the box. Studying in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) allows students to develop real-world skills. In 2021 students will delve deep inside areas of Biological, Physical, Chemical, Earth and Space Sciences with many other curriculum areas intertwined and integrated throughout. During these STEAM lessons students will learn to ask and answer questions through a series of Innovation Tasks and Engineering Design Challenges. They will be faced with ethical dilemmas and topics of conversation that expose and expand their literal and inferential thinking skills. Students will be taught that making mistakes in going wrong is a normal part of life; they will leave STEAM lessons with more questions than they walked in the door with, due to hunger and curiosity for deeper knowledge.

The year 2021 will see students from foundation to year to embark on a Visual Art journey where they will expand their knowledge and skills of line, texture, consistency, shape and colour. However, the year 2021 for students between Year Three and Year Six will look slightly new at Maramba primary school. Students in these year levels will be exposed to a new chain of curriculum; looking at Design and Technology, Arts and Engineering. Students Design Tech weekly specialist class will enable them to develop real-world skills such as digital rendering, 3D printing, baking, gardening, building, architecture and many more.

This is an exciting journey of investigation, examination and exploration and Maramba Primary School is excited to be able to offer your child updated, 21st century specialist subjects of STEAM, Visual Arts, and Design Tech.
