Maramba Breakfast Club

Did you know that we run a Foodbank Breakfast Club at Maramba Primary?

Foodbank Victoria, in partnership with the Victorian Government launched the School Breakfast Clubs Program in 2016. The goal was to deliver nutritious breakfasts into 500 State schools. By the end of 2020 – the program will have expanded to include 1,000 Victorian Government primary, secondary, P-12 and specialist schools.

Now during tighter restrictions, the breakfast club has not been able to run. Luckily, Mrs. Morwood came up with the idea of creating food hampers with the food donated through Foodbank and her innovation was highlighted through the Foodbank website.

“As a result of COVID-19, students made the transition to remote learning. Assistant Principal, Diane Morwood, said there was great concern for those students who were missing out on breakfast at home. To ensure students would have continued access to healthy food, Diane was able to provide students with ‘take home’ food hampers utilising left over supplies from Breakfast Club to enjoy throughout the day and during the school holidays.”

Well done and THANK YOU, Mrs. Morwood!
